Mzuzu, July 24, 2019:  Chasefu Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mzuzu on Saturday donated assorted items to the needy worth K250, 000, during an outreach program the church conducted.

Director of Personal Ministries Department for the Church, Peace Katemecha, said the church decided to assist the needy as a way of relieving them from their problems.

Katemecha said the items, which included sugar, washing and bathing soap; clothes, milk, rice and diapers were contributed by church members.

"The members through various departments identified a widow staying in Katawa in the city, an old couple in Mzilawaingwe and orphans and vulnerable children at Crisis Nursery School in Chimaliro," he said.

He said the children at Crisis Nursery School were either dumped by their mothers or lost their parents, hence needed both physical and spiritual support.

Katemache said the church will continue with the program to ensure more people in need are reached and assisted.

He urged the SDA faithful to offer whatever they could for the needy.

Speaking on behalf of director for crisis Nursery School, Patricia Nyasulu said the 12 children at the facility needed support from well-wishers for their upkeep.

Milk, porridge flour, clothes and beddings are some of the needs. Nyasulu thanked the church for the support rendered and asked other well-wishers to do the same.
