Emotional Wellness workshop to equip attendees with self-help techniques

Lilongwe, February 6, 2020: The Counseling and Therapies Centre will conduct an introductory level wellness workshop which will assist the attendees to cope with different mental problems. 

The workshop is scheduled to take place on February 11, 2020 at Jubilee Enterprise in Lilongwe area 47, Sector 4.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana) on Wednesday, the Counselling and Alternative Therapist Practitioner, Guido Terzaghi said the workshop aims at teaching basics and different techniques for tackling mental issues.

“The workshop will feature various lessons of dealing with mental issues which include; Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Heart math anxiety technique, introduction to Reiki self-healing and meditations, mindfulness and deep relaxation techniques.

“After this workshop, the patrons will have the tools and skills to deal with most of their emotional issues such as depression, anxiety, stress and trauma,” said Terzaghi.

According to Terzaghi, the entry fee for the workshop is K8, 000 per individual, a charge which he said was set so that individuals from different walks of life can afford.

Reiki Practitioner and facilitator, Linda Kolomba further said looking at the prevalent cases of suicides and other mental issues in the country and the world at large, it is important to reach out and teach people on mental wellness.

“The topics that will be discussed are important because they are self-help techniques, meaning that as a practitioner, I don’t have to always be there during a breakdown, they will be able to heal and relieve themselves,” she said.

The workshop will be conducted on a monthly basis in Blantyre and Lilongwe.

Counselling and Therapies centre is a holistic and alternative health service provider that conducts cognitive behavioural therapy, deep tissue massage, acupressure massage, infrared light therapy, energy field imaging, emotional freedom technique, trigger point massage, heartmath biofeedback and Reiki.
