Chitipa, October 20, 2018: Kasama Community Technical College to be officially opened soon in Chitipa is said to be one of the best Technical Community Colleges constructed in the country.

Speaking on Friday when District Executive Members (DEC) appreciated construction of the college, Regional Service Centre Manager for TEVETA, Bamusi Kachoka said the College is unique and the best.

“Most Community Colleges in the country for example offer four courses, but this College will be offering eight courses. It has smart agriculture component which has both solar and hydro electrical power and produces manure from toilets which will be used for agriculture,” he disclosed.

Kachoka added that construction of the College has helped to conserve natural environment as it did not use burnt bricks and it is known as “green college”.

He said State President was expected to open the College by the end of this month but due to some challenges, the activity is expected to take place in three weeks time.

Chairperson for Chitipa District Council, Maxwell Kaira described Kasama Community Technical College as a pride of Chitipa.

“People have been saying that Chitipa is a dead north but now it is the living north because Kasama is best college in the country now. Mangochi Community Technical College is lower than Kasama,” he observed.
Construction of Kasama Technical Community College started in November 2017 and is expected to end early November 2018, and has been funded by the Board of TEVETA to a tune of K26O million.
