CCJP equips Chikwawa CBEs with bicycles

Chikwawa, April 5, 2017: The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) for Chikwawa Diocese handed over bicycles to Community Based Educators (CBEs) in the district to ease their mobility when promoting primary justice.

The bicycles were handed over to the CBEs on Tuesday at St Michaels Cathedral in the district benefiting almost 120 animators.

According to Chikwawa Diocesan Secretary, Lewis Msiyadungu, CCJP as a religious organization, complements issues of justice hence the handing over of the bicycles which will ensure wide coverage of messages to all communities in the district.

“The programme is in two parishes of Chikwawa and Nchalo whereas in Chikwawa we implemented the project in four Traditional Authorities (TAs)and two under Nchalo area. The main focus is to help in upholding justice and peace as a branch of the Catholic. However, our outreach officers do not only go to the Catholics because the project is for everyone,” he pointed out.

Msiyadungu said the donation came from the DFID/UK AID through CCJP Lilongwe towards the Primary Justice Programme with the aim of ending violence against women and girls.

He asked the CBEs to take good care of the bicycles adding that apart from the Primary Justice Program, there would also be other CCJP related activities which the animators would be asked to do.

Vicar General for Chikwawa Diocese, Fr Cosmass Chasukwa thanked the donors for the timely support.
“CCJP as a branch of the church strives to continue the work of Jesus Christ who moved into different places to preach justice and peace to the people. Since the project started in 2008 up to date, we have witnessed tremendous changes,” he said.

Patrick Kalogomba, a CBE Supervisor from TA Maseya thanked the donors through CCJP for easing their mobility by providing them with the bicycles.
