Nkhata Bay, February 11, 2019: COMSIP has trained 34 nutrition promoters on cookery skills that are expected to be passed onto social cash transfer beneficiary households in Nkhata Bay.

Speaking after three-day training this week at GVH Khoza in Traditional Authority Mankhambira in the district, COMSIP Nutritional Officer Judith Chisiye said the training was critical to the health of aged people.

“In our nutrition project, we are targeting social cash transfer beneficiaries who are aged to access good and nutritious foods,” she said.

On his part, GVH Khoza applauded COMSIP for the nutrition promoters’ training, saying the activity was also critical in addressing malnutrition in the district.

“The food that was displayed here is locally found, which shows that six food groups are found in our communities and not in urban areas,” GVH Khoza explained.

One of the promoters, Anthony Phiri, hailed COMSIP for the training and promised to impart the knowledge to others.
