Thyolo, May 25: Community Savings and Investment Promotion (COMSIP) clusters in the Area of Traditional Authority Ngolongoliwa in Thyolo are set to have an open day which will take place in June 2018, as a way of showcasing their achievements through the groupings.

Thyolo District Community Development Officer (DCDO), Augustine Chipanda made the disclosure on Tuesday during a monitoring visit to COMSIP clusters to evaluate and prepare for the open day where members will showcase businesses they have been involved in and the achievements so far.

He told COMSIP members to make use of the planned field day to exhibit high quality products to attract support from different partners and organisations.

“People should see the fruits of COMSIP on the day. The day is expected to instill a spirit of hard work among members and stimulate interest in others to join the groups from what they will see,” Chipanda pointed out.

Speaking on behalf of Retheya Cluster, Phebe Namalobo said the clusters were ready for the open day and promised to bring the best products from their groups.

He described the day as a window of opportunity since it would give the members the platform to exhibit their achievements hence the need for the members to embrace it to inspire confidence in both government and COMSIP.

“We only see about open days on COMSIP Calendars and on Television but this time it will be ourselves showcasing our work. We are very proud that now it is going to happen at our door step,” Namalobo emphasized.

The open day shall involve Retheya and Nameta clusters with each having five groups from different villages with 186 and 196 members respectively.

The groups are engaged in such businesses as livestock and crop production, selling of clothes, carpentry, grocery and restaurant, among others.
