Blantyre, July 27, 2018: Music lovers in Blantyre will on Sunday have a rare opportunity of entertainment as two big names in music circles, Sir Paul Banda and the legendary Billy Kaunda will be sharing the stage at Village House.

Speaking in an interview on Friday ahead of the show, lead vocalist for Alleluya Band, Sir Paul Banda confirmed to Malawi News Agency (Mana) that the show is one of the three performances that have been lined up this week.

“As you may be already aware, music is our routine way of life so we are having three shows this week, we are starting here in Balaka and we will go to Mwanza and on Sunday we will be in Blantyre,” he confirmed.

Banda said the teaming up with Billy Kaunda will spice up the show as he is a spectacular live performer, hence the incorporation.

“Billy Kaunda is a very fine artist and fans should expect fireworks. In the past weeks, we have been touring the central region together and his performance has been so spectacular.

“So, I would like to ask people to come in their large numbers considering that this is a long time chance to see an artist who performs live once in a while,” Banda emphasised.

Banda, however, said the two artists decided to take the show to Village House because it is one place where Blantyre residents love to watch shows.

“Just recently, the Black Missionaries were there, Zembani Band was there too. So, it’s just one place where we want to make sure that we don’t skip our fans – we just have to be there,” he added.

Banda, therefore, appealed to the fans to come out during the show, saying in recent times patronage for live shows in Blantyre has been very low, a situation that has prompted the Balaka based outfit to scale down their performances in the city.

Notable artists to perform on the day are Paul Subili aka Njovu yaku Balaka, Coss Chiwalo and many others.

The show will start at 1:30 pm and the charges are K2, 500 each.

However, efforts by Mana to talk to Billy Kaunda proved futile as his mobile phone kept on calling without being answered until the time we went to bed.
