Nkhata Bay, March 25, 2019. Police in Nkhata Bay district have assured the public that they would provide tight security to deter violence during campaign period.

This comes after reported violent acts between some party followers in the district, days before official launch of the elections campaign.

Nkhata Bay Police Spokesperson, Kondwani James, said police has put measures in place to ensure security during political rallies.

"We will make sure there is police presence during party rallies and that for places booked should host one rally at a time to avoid conflict," he said.
James assured people that Police would be non-partisan in discharging their duties.

"We will not look at party affiliation, but we will do our job as it is supposed to be done," he added.

James urged Political leaders to focus on their manifestos rather than attacking others so as to avoid offending them which can result to violence.
