Luke International organizes volleyball tournament for Mzuzu schools

Mzuzu, December 21, 2017: A non-governmental organization (NGO), Luke International has organized a volleyball tournament for 12 primary and six secondary school teams within Mzuzu City on Saturday.

Volleyball Association of Malawi (VAM) General Secretary, Jairos Nkhoma said Thursday in an interview with Malawi New Agency (MANA) that the tournament would be held at Katoto Secondary School volleyball court.

“We really appreciate Luke International for organizing this tournament because it will help us to sustain volleyball sport and develop elite players for the country from grassroots. This tournament will enhance education in the country because participating teams will be awarded with learning materials which will improve their learning standards,” he viewed.

Nkhoma explained that prizes would be in form of learning materials as one away of promoting education.

“We just give floating trophies and some books with pencils and pens. We do not encourage monetary prizes to schools,” the GS added.

Luke International aims at improving health and community services in the country.
