Blantyre, March 4: Flames vastly experienced striker, Esau ‘Black Mamba’ Kanyenda’s presence in the National First Division in South Africa was felt on Sunday, March when he scored in his debut for Polokwane City against Jomo Cosmos.

Kanyenda, who was playing his first League game since he put pen to paper for the Rainbow nation out-fit, notched the second goal for Polokwane in the 64th minute after another one was scored by Siphesihle Nzimande.

In a telephone interview with the Malawi News Agency from his base in Polokwane, the former Russian Kamaz FC hit-man said he was delighted to score his first goal in his debut.

“I am so delighted to score in a debut.  It was not any easy game against Jomo because l was facing my former team to play my first professional football,” said Kanyenda.

Jomo Cosmos is Kanyenda’s first foreign Legion club to ply his trade after playing for Dwasco United.

The soft spoken captain also said his ambition is to take Polokwane into the Premier League at the end of the season.

“With the caliber of players and our coach, we have all what it takes to play in the Premier League next season,” said Kanyenda.

This was City’s second win on the trot and it leaves them second bottom on the log with 11 points from nine games.
