Faith groups urged to enhance unity & development

ZOMBA, January 3, 2017: Senior chief Mlumbe of Zomba has expressed commitment to work with religious groups noting that they are crucial in promoting and enhancing unity and development in the society.

The chief said this in reaction to his appointment as the patron of Mlumbe Muslim Committee which covers the whole area of his jurisdiction.

Chief Mlumbe said he was humbled to have been appointed as the patron and promised to enhance unity and coexistence among the Muslim and other faith groups in the area.

“Let me call upon all religious groups in my area to take part in development and make sure that there is unity among all people regardless of their religious differences,” said Mlumbe.

The traditional leader then announced that he has donated land to the committee where it can carry out their development projects.

He further called upon Islamic organizations to support the group both financially and technically so that it can achieve its aspirations.

Chairperson of the newly instituted Mlumbe Muslim Committee, Sheikh Mussa Anubi, thanked the senior chief for the land and efforts of enhancing unity among Muslims.

Sheikh Anubi said as a committee, they would use the land for the benefit of the community, by wooing support from Islamic organizations to construct Islamic infrastructures.


Mlumbe Muslim Committee has membership of Muslims across the area of Senior Chief Mlumbe.
