Livingstonia Youth hold fun day

Written by  Wallen Kanyenda

Dedza, May 12, 2017: Youths in the CCAP church of the Livingstonia Synod have organised a fun day as one way of bringing together young people of the Synod in the Lilongwe presbytery.

According to the chairperson of the organising committee, John Thindwa who spoke to Mana Thursday, the event will be organised to bring youths who, at many times, feel left out in many church activities so that they should be part of the church.

“We have many young people in the Lilongwe presbytery but very few attend youth guild meetings which is why as presbytery, we thought it wise to organise a fun day so that we should expose hidden talent that is in our church so that we work as a presbytery,” said Thindwa.

The chairperson added that this is also part of evangelism to young people so that they know Jesus as their personal saviour.

Speaking after the function in Lilongwe, one of the committee members from Saint Paul Congregation, Kenneth Gondwe hailed the Lilongwe presbytery for organising such events saying it is high time the presbytery embarked on not using Bible study only as a tool of evangelism but also think of other ways of fishing young people to Jesus.

“It is a welcome idea and I want to thank the Synod through our presbytery for such activities because this will bring many young people to Jesus and our congregations will be full. As a church, we need to be progressing by finding ways of winning young people to our church,” said Gondwe.

Some of the activities organised were music competition, sack race, eating competition, rapping, free style, joke cracking and football just to mention but a few.

About K150,000 has been put in place for the competition and Saint Paul Congregation in Area 49 will host the function.
