MACHINGA, October 28, 2017: A Machinga based charitable Organization; Machinga Development Association (MADAS) has donated six wheel chairs worthy K900, 000 to Machinga District Hospital following reports that the facility operated with one working wheel chair to carter for 12 wards.

Making the donation Friday, MADAS chairperson, Dr. Brighton M’baya said the organization is a nonprofit making organization composed of sons and daughters of Machinga formed to uplift the welfare of people in the district.

“We learnt with ‘deep’ shock that the hospital operated with only one wheel chair against 12 wards. The development compelled us to mobilize resources to purchase and donate the wheel chairs,” said Dr M’baya.

Receiving the donation, Machinga District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Anorld Kapachika lauded MADAS for the donation saying it has come at the right time when the hospital needed them most.

Dr Kapachika said each ward is supposed to be served with two wheel chairs but this was not the case currently.

He therefore appealed for more support for the hospital to effectively deliver quality health services.
