Two in for theft from motor vehicle

Lilongwe, August 9, 2017: Kanengo Police Station is keeping in custody two men who are suspected to have stolen car parts from a motor vehicle in the early hours of Wednesday in Area 25.

Public Relations Officer for Kanengo Police Salome Zgambo Chibwana said the arrest follows a spate of missing and stolen car parts from motor vehicles in the area.

“There have been increased cases of theft from motor vehicles of items such as starter motors, sets of coils, distributors and alternators within Kanengo policing area.

“Today, we have managed to arrest two people in connection to this rampant theft,” Chibwana said.
She further disclosed that the police have recovered some spare parts valued close to K800, 000.00 and investigations are still underway to arrest more people behind this theft.

“So far the suspects are still in police custody and will appear in court soon”, Chibwana said.

The suspects are identified as Bernard Mbewe, 29, from Kadzimbuka Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Wimbe in Kasungu and Mayeso Samson Kalima, 20, from Chapisa Village, T/A Masasa in Ntcheu.
