Two nabbed for house breaking and stealing in Bangwe

Blantyre, July 17, 2017: Police in Bangwe on Friday arrested two men for breaking into houses and stealing assorted items.

According to Limbe Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, Widson Nhlane, the arrest of the two, 32 year old Alfred Banda and 38 year old Francis Pangani came following a series of break in offences that have been occurring in the township.

“The two, on March 21 this year broke into a house of a Bangwe resident and stole a TV screen, DVD player, kitchen utensils, clothes, bed sheets and duvets. As if this was not enough, the duo again broke into the house of another resident of the same township on March 23 where they went away with three generators plus three tins of paints,” said Nhlane.

Nhlane said police managed to apprehend the two suspects after intensive investigations and recovered of some of the stolen items.

“So far, all the items belonging to the first complainant have been recovered and positively identified by the owner. Only one generator has been recovered for the second complainant and police officers are still investigating the matter,” he said.

The two will appear in court soon to answer charges of breaking in and theft.

Meanwhile, police is thanking all members of the community who report to police about suspected thieves in their respective residential areas.

Banda hails from Mgunda Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Nthiramanja while Pangani comes from Chabwera Village,in T/A Mabuka, both in Mulanje District.
