Blantyre, December 7, 2018: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) will on Sunday, December 9 commemorate the International Anti-Corruption Day in Machinga and Karonga districts simultaneously.

ACB’s Public Relations Officer Egrita Ndala said in an interview Friday that this year’s commemoration has targeted the youth to incite them to fully participate in curbing corruption in the country.

“We [should] not leave anyone behind in this fight against corruption. Youths are a good asset in the fight against corruption because they are many and we can take advantage of their innovative skills,” Ndala said.

Main activities to mark the day will be held on Sunday 9th December 2018 in Liwonde in Machinga and Karonga from 1:30 to 4:30 pm.
Among the activities will be a panel discussion on how the youth can be involved in the fight against corruption.

On 8th December, there will be an anti-corruption big walk from Freedom Park to Karonga Community ground while in Machinga, the big walk will start from M’manga Primary School Ground to Machinga Community Ground.

In 2003, the United Nations General Assembly designated 9th December as a day when people all over the world reflect on the work being done in the fight against corruption.

This year’s commemoration will be held under the theme “Youth Involvement in Corruption Fight; A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation,”
