Mwanza, December 07, 2018: Mwanza First Grade Magistrate (FGM) Court on Thursday convicted and sentenced Thomas Sitima 30, to 10 years Imprisonment with Hard Labour for defiling a 13 year old girl.

State Prosecutor, Sub Inspector Joshua Chirambo told the court that Sitima on October 23, 2018 at Kabango Village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Nthache in Mwanza, at around 09:00 hrs, called the 13 year old girl into his shop.

He said when the young girl entered the shop, Thomasi pushed her down and defiled her in the shop.

"After finishing the act, Sitima gave the victim two packets of Kamba puffs and told her not to inform anyone on what they had done," said Chirambo in court.

According to the Sub Inspector, the girl did not reveal the incident to her mother however, some two boys who saw her coming out of the shop informed the victim’s mother.

He said the girl was therefore quizzed at length by her mother on what had happed in the shop and she revealed that Sitima had defiled her.

Sub Inspector Chirambo said the mother then reported the matter to Mwanza Police Station where she was referred to Mwanza District Hospital for a medical examination which revealed that the girl was indeed defiled.

Sitima appeared before Mwanza FGM Court on October 25 where he pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement and this forced the state to parade five witnesses who testified against him.

Sitima comes from Kabango Village in the area of TA Nthache in Mwanza.
