Lilongwe, March 1: Vice president of the Film Association of Malawi (FAMA) Ezaius Mkandawire says the African Movie Awards (AMA) organizers have invited them to partner in hosting the
awards.
In an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana) Mkandawire said as FAMA they have been invited personally to be part and parcel of the organizing team of the event.

“We will be helping in the organizing of the event which is an honour to FAMA and to the rest of the actors in the country,” Mkandawire said.

He added that it was not to be taken for granted that the AMA would be hosted in the country because this was a platform where best actors in the continent are recognized and awarded.

“The awards will give local actors an idea of what other actors across the continent are doing to perfect their art,” he said.

He further explained that the awards will give the Malawian film making industry exposure in the way that it will be time to show other experts what local actors are capable of doing.

Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Movie Academy Film Maker Peace Anyiam Osigwe during a press conference held at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe on February 28 announced that the AMA will be hosted in the country.

She also brought good news to young Malawians who would be interested to venture into film making because her Academy will train aspiring actors.

She added that, “my Academy will in March this year train aspiring actors in film making in collaboration with Malawian Government,” Osigwe said.

She said after the training her Academy will establish a film making studio and provide equipment to enable those that will be trained to make use of it for film making activities.

Osigwe said Malawi has the potential to have more young people in the film making industry, she also said the country’s scenery was conducive for film making and can become one of the good countries in the film making industry in Africa.

The African Movie Awards (AMA) have been slated for March this year.
