Breaking News

It has never happened before in the history of our country that the first citizen is requested, accepts, plans and actually does it to take direct questions from the public.

Yesterday, 31st December 2012, will go down in history as one of the greatest days in the social-political history of our country; Her Excellency President Mrs Joyce Banda took questions, directly from the public, and live on Zodiak Broadcasting Station.

We at Malawi News Agency (Mana) would like to commend the President and politely request her not to close this window of interaction with the general public.

In the same vein we would like to commend Zodiak Broadcasting Station for the initiative and we do hope they can take on other leaders, be it political, social, religious, business etc to take direct questions from the general public. We at Mana believe that they too possess a responsibility to be accountable, open and transparent.

We also would like to commend the general public who were responsible and factual in their interaction with the first citizen, to you all we say bravo and do keep it up.

We at Mana believe this day has set the tone for an open, transparent and accountable political landscape in our country and we are fully supportive of the initiative. It is our hope that other media houses, including ourselves, will borrow a leaf from what has happened.

As we start a new year today; 1st January 2013, Mana would like to thank all its readers, news sources and all other partners for the support all have rendered to us in the last 365 days. We wish to renew our commitment of being a professional, apolitical and responsible media house tasked to serve the nation differences withstanding.

In in 2012 Mana and its parent Ministry have strived to introduce new and improve on products that are already in place. We wish to state that with your support, we will build on last year’s successes and try to build on taking Mana to new glorious heights in 2013.

Otherwise, Mana and its parents; the Directorate and Ministry of Information wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!
