Lilongwe, March 14, 2019. Police at Nathenje in Lilongwe are keeping in custody two men identified as Chimwemwe Kandota, 27, and Abraham Tionge, 22, for possessing six bags of marijuana without license.

According to Central Region police spokesperson, Kingsley Dandaula, the two suspects were arrested on March 8, 2019 at Kalombo Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mazengera in Lilongwe.

Dandaula said police were tipped at around 11:00 in the morning that a two- tonner Hino vehicle registration number MZ 127 was stuck along Matapila - Chiwanda earth road loaded with goods suspected to be cannabis sativa.
 
A follow-up was made immediately according to Dandaula which led to the two suspects being arrested and the six bags of loose cannabis sativa being seized together with the motor vehicle.

He said the cannabis sativa has been taken to Chitedze Research Station for analysis.
 
Kandota hails from Mwabvungula Village, T.A. Mwase in Kasungu while Tionge comes from Mthiko Village T.A. Kalumbu in Lilongwe District.
