Tete, Mozambique, March 6: Tete Provincial Director for Agriculture, Amerio da Conceican on Wednesday appealed to Malawi business community to take advantage of the business opportunities prevailing at Tete in Mozambique.
Conceican made the appeal in Tete, on Wednesday when he opened a two- day trade and investment forum between Malawi and Mozambique.
The director said, of all the providences in Mozambique, Tete was experiencing one of the fastest growing economy.
Conceican asked Malawians to establish businesses in Tete.
He said, “Malawi and Mozambique shares a lot in common even when it comes to trade and investment. My appeal to business community from Malawi is to take advantage of the business opportunities that are here at Tete.
“Some of the trade investments that Malawians can bring include; hotel and housing, shopping malls, schools and training centers as well as clinics.”
Conceican further said restaurants and catering, supply of building and construction materials and barbershops were also some of the trade opportunities for Malawians willing to invest in the town.
Malawi’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Sosten Gwengwe who was among the delegates said they were ready to encourage Malawians to open businesses in Tete.
He described the trade and investment forum as an important platform.
Gwengwe called on Malawi’s business community to take advantage of the investment opportunities that the Mozambican government had offered.
“We all know that Tete is becoming the fastest growing city and there are a lot of businesses which Malawi as a country could bring in.
“My whole purpose of coming here was to explore business opportunities and I am happy that the Mozambican government has acted in our favour,” Gwengwe explained.
